Adriaan Tijsseling used SLOCCount to count physical source lines of code and estimate development time and effort for WordPress.
Based on the 19,030 lines of source code it took 4.68 developers a little over 11 months at a cost of $595,734 to develop the WordPress application. With so much of the Internet revolving around freeware or donationware it’s easy for users to forget about the time, money and effort that goes into developing great applications that are then handed out for free to anyone who asks.
The World Wide Web is a great place to belong.
