Tom Raftery no longer uses any anti-spam plugins and has been spam free for a week now.
In short, he is using WordPress 1.5, he populated his blackilist with common words spammers use, he has written a custom .htaccess file, and he’s using Dr. Dave’s plugin Referrer Karma.

1Quick couple of updates on my posting about not using any anti comment spam plugins:
1. It is now almost three weeks and still no spam has made it through my defences and
2. I have changed my domain in the meantime from tomandpilar.net/tom to tomrafteryit.net/views, so now my post is available to view at http://www.tomrafteryit.net/comment-spam-plugins-no-longer-required/
