Optimize Your Database

Weblog Tools Collection has a tip for optimizing your WordPress database tables. As Mark mentions several times, backup your data first.

My database currently holds 1,174,948 records and is 167 MB. I don’t use any spam recording plugins so this does not include any spam records. It’s mostly traffic stats. Crazy.

Yeah, traffic stats are horrible. Go third party for traffic, man. Too much time and energy goes into massive backups of stats.

Who do you suggest? I have tried a few of the free ones but they usually have traffic limits.

I use nedstat(Free) for long term stats and Statcounter (free but has limits) for short term analysis.
