I need a sticky post plugin for an upcoming announcement on Blogging Pro. The first place I looked of course was BloggingPro and the only plugin I found was Adhesive, but it does not work in 1.5.1.2. So I went to Google and searched and couldn’t find one sticky post plugin for WordPress.
I can’t believe this. Am I missing something?

1There is this plugin, which should work fine.
Mark, of WLTC had a sticky plugin/hack - wonder if he’s updated it lately.
There is also this support thread that talks about a different plugin.
I suppose Owen should be able to update the plugin to work for 1.5.x, but he may be busy, too.

2Thanks Carthik. I looked at the first plugin but there was supposed to be a readme in the zip file which was missing. It looks like another loop needs to be added. The second hack you suggested needs database changes and other core files altered.
I can’t believe there is not a drop and load solution for sticky posts. In reality, this should already be a WordPress feature.

3Adhesive v2.1b is compatible with WP v1.5. I can’t think of anything that would have broken it between v1.5 and v1.5.1.2, but Owen no longer supports any of his plugins (unless you ask very nicely). I believe he does tend to use the adhesive functionality from time to time, so if you asked very nicely, I’m sure he might be able to figure out what’s going on.

4I tried Adhesive and it didn’t work. Looking at the WordPress support forums there are many others unable to get it to work with the latest version of WordPress. There are some solutions in the forums and I tried a few but no luck.

5Strange! I have v1.5.1.2 installed and adhesive runs just fine…is there any incompability with another plugin?

8I had problems with WP 1.5.1.2 and the adhesive plugin, but in the end I managed to get it to work.
Unfortunately I cannot remember what I did - perhaps it is as simple as turning off all Textile/MarkDown plugins …
Good luck!

9I just created a custom category, i.e. ’sticky’, and I display posts from the ’sticky’ category where I need them. If you want you could remove the ’sticky’ category from being displayed in the archive.
Simple, no plug-ins, no configs.
Ciao,
Max
