[...] Where is WordPress here? I thought WP was almost synonymous with blogging already? Perhaps it’s bundled in with the 17% “something else” group, and the 38% “don’t know/rather not say” group. At any rate, I think it would also be interesting to know what BloggingPro readers use. Here’s a simple poll I made. [...]

I host a couple of my own blogs on Wordpress and write for a blog network that uses Movable Type. Just today I (again) asked for a feature on the blog network that is something built-in to WordPress, and (again) I was told it's just too hard to implement. Sigh.

After many, many problems with downtime, crashes and lost posts on Typepad, I switched to WordPress, hosting it myself. Now I recommend it for everyone. It is easy to tweak, easy to template and hosting it yourself means you aren't dependant on the crashes of a public host like Typepad or Blogger.

Just as the term "Google it" has become synonymous with searching, the term "Press it" could very well become synonymous with blogging.

It's just because that WordPress has become so popular among bloggers. It is also a challenge to the other blogging software makers to step up and do something about WP's dominance. The result would be more choices of blogging software for bloggers to choose from.
