Traffic Doesn’t Mean Opportunity

Over at 9rules, Tyme has put up a post about the fact that increasing traffic does not mean an increase in opportunities to do things thanks in part to your blogs, sourcing news from Amy of Mom Advice.

I’m the latest spokesperson for Cascade. Yeah, like that stuff that cleans your dishes Cascade. They contacted me a while back about providing tips to use in their promotional material which just went out to a bunch of news outlets. It was a one time thing, but they said there’s a good chance they’ll use me again.

Has my traffic skyrocketed? No. Do I now keep warm at night wrapped in a blanket of money? No.

But that’s ok because these experiences are ones that money can’t buy. When they get older, I’ll be able to tell my kids that mommy was in magazines, on TV, and was invited to meet movie stars.

A great story, and something we all need to take to heart. Just because the big bucks are not rolling in, or traffic is not stellar on our blogs, it does not mean that there are no opportunities for us out in the world to do other things we love, and are interested in.

By the way, I would love to work on a book or two, be invited to conferences, or just shot a message from time to time people…

He! I love your point about this. Due to me being consistent and having blogged on a regular basis for over a year now I got the opportunity to write a cocktail book. The people never wanted to give me the deal before because they didn’t believe I was consistent enough to finish something as I always left pretty fast in life.
When they offered me the deal some weeks ago, their main argument why they did it was that my blog had proven I am able able to finish a job more than ever before.
