WordPress Plugin: Widgetize Anything

I haven’t really gotten into the whole Widgets thing (please don’t burn me at the stake), but I have been excited at the idea of Widgets. The thing that is holding me back is that I would want just about everything to be a widget, and now it seems for the most part you can, thanks to Erik’s Widgetize Anything plug-in.

There are many WordPress plugins that should be converted into sidebar widgets, made compatible with the Automattic Widget Plugin, but, for whatever reason, have not yet been converted. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a generic way to call other plugins from within a sidebar widget? Now there is! Introducing…. Widgetize Anything!

Basically, it works just like the built-in text widgets, except that it allows you to put in PHP code into the body of the widget.

You will have to have the Widget’s plug-in already installed to use this plug-in, but it’s something worth trying out.

    i would really love to know what plug in makes the comments appear the way they are on this site, or is it just a little code in the comments ? if you dont mind I would really love to know.

    im referring to the way your home page blogs say ’0 comments’ on a speechbox image, im sorry to be a pain & thank you for your time.

    The speechbox and comment number is just xhtml/css using wordpress…

    This is a great plugin. I’ll be implementing in the coming week. I’ve always had a problem with themes/plugins that weren’t widget friendly.

    widgets definitely is in line with the wordpress goal of making blogging more efficient and accessible to everyone. When and if you’re not a programming genius or adept with css and html, widgets are definitely a way to go.

    I am definitely against theme and plugin developers who have not adapted widgets to their current wordpress themes, etc. (I’m a wordpress user)

    But, thanks for this little snippet of info.. very much appreciated..

    Sounds like a solid plugin but you can already perform this using King Text Plugin which supports the use of php and xhtml.
