MyBlogLog, a service that allows people to leave information about themselves on blogs, has been purchased by Yahoo!.
Is this a good thing? I am not sure, but it does continue the trend of Yahoo! buying up ideas they think are hot, rather than building competing projects.
Here is a bit from the group’s blog:
Todd, John, Steve, Scott and I are pleased to announce that Yahoo! has brought MyBlogLog into the fold. I’ve been drafting a post about this for the better part of a week and it’s just not happening. No matter how hard I try, there’s just too much here that I can’t yet put into words. But we wanted to post this as soon as we could and give you the heads up, just as always. I promise to provide more details as things calm down, but for now, here’s the Cliffs Notes version:
MyBlogLog is becoming a part of Yahoo! We’re all moving to San Francisco. We officially bleed Purple and Yellow (although unofficially, I’ll always bleed Orange and Blue - Go Gators! National champions in basketball AND football, yo!).
It should be interesting. Hopefully everything will go well for them, and the MyBlogLog community will continue to grow and evolve, rather than just having Yahoo logos pasted everywhere.
