Matt has put up the release post for WordPress 2.3 and the flood of downloads will now begin. WordPress 2.3 brings some great additions to the publishing software, and is thought of as a great new release.

Here is a snippet from the release post:

I’m thrilled to announce that Version 2.3 “Dexter” of WordPress is now ready for the world. This release includes native tagging support, plugin update notification, URL handling improvements, and much more. This release is named for the great tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon.

I love the codename of Dexter, mind you I have never heard his music.
