As many others I also find the HabariProject exiting and am looking forward to v/1.0.

A good read for others with the same interest could be: http://binarybonsai.com/archives/2008/02/19/i-named-her-monolith/ where Michael Heilemann is working on the dashboard / GUI for Habari - be sure to watch his Screencast which contains a great walkthrough of what to expect.

To say that we need to develop faster to compete against WordPress (or any other tool) implies that we are in competition with those other tools. That's not entirely the case (at least not insofar as our motivations for developing Habari.

I think we all believe that a rich collection of complimentary tools makes for a better blogging ecosystem. We're not looking for hegemony or dominance in the blog publishing market. We're looking to scratch our own itches, and to advance the craft of blogging along the way. There are no timetables for either of those objectives, and to arbitrarily impose competition with other products does not a better product make.

Thanks for keeping an eye on Habari, though! As always, if you have specific suggestions or complaints, our habari-users mailing list is the place to post them! You can help speed up Habari development by participating in the process! ;)

Habari looks great and all but I agree, I'm waiting till I see a 1.0 version to really give it a go. Also, Habari has to develop faster if they want to make inroads amongst WP users. Despite an awesome looking design (IMO) they are losing momentum with slow development.
