I really think that Twitter (and to a certain extend Facebook) the better platforms are for this. At the same time sharing a link on Twitter often will spread a lot further than just the audience of your blog and often is much more rewarding for the original author.

I think whether one -post paragraphs are okay, or rather it depends on what readers you have. if the link your share is indeed in your audience interest, then why not?

So why is your name Blogging for cash and not a genuine name?

That's also something we do not want to see anymore in 2010, use a name, at least a nickname which identifies you.

I pity all kids who have been named fire extinguisher sales by their parents.

Write for people, not the search engines. Content is what the soul bread and wine that makes the internet merry go round run. Useful and meaningful content that serves a purpose makes people happy and eventually the search engines in indexing that content. Enjoying providing content just makes it all the more rewarding.

The "no more dumb lists" is my favorite by far. While it is well known that lists do appeal to our primal senses of appetite of knowledge, they have been used and abused to death as an easy and cheap resource to bring in pageviews and game Google. Enough of that. Just because it works for Mashable it doesn't mean we want to see them everywhere else. I'd rather see and favor real, original content that begs being linked to. More value, less noise, please.

Totally agree with you. The most useless post ever imo are those one paragraph post which introduce a post from another blog. Just...useless.

Dale, I generally do not read any 'how to write to get lots of traffic/become rich' blogs. Been there, done it and could not be bothered to get the T-shirt.

The main element for me is: 'If I can link to this entry in any conversation, would I do it for the traffic or because I can add to the discussion?'. As soon as I think the first while writing an entry, I hit the 'Delete' button.

good stuff - I love "The Year of the Return of Content" idea - I'm tired of everyone telling me what I have to do in order to get a higher google rating... That's not why I started writing!
