WordPress iPhone App To Receive Stats, VideoPress And Push Notifications (Oh My!)
After Automattic showered Blackberry and Android lovers with some WP love, it looks as if iPhone fans may receive not only push notifications, but WordPress stats within the iPhone app as well.
(WordPress For iPhone) One of the most requested features for the WordPress iPhone app has been to include site statistics such as pageviews per post, referrals, and the like inside the app. In fact, according to this trac ticket from 17 months ago, it’s been something we’ve wanted to do for a very long time. [...]
What I’d love to know is what would people like to see both data wise, and visually, from inside the WordPress for iPhone app – and if something like push notification for stats would be of interest ? [sic]
Having push notifications for stats would be awesome, enabling bloggers to respond to traffic spikes resulting from a breaking news article, a controversial post or (God forbid) a DDoS attack.
(Note: iPhone users can currently analyze their traffic via Statistics For WordPress, which although lacking push notifications does provide an awesome user interface)
There is still no news on whether WordPress will launch push notifications for comments (a feature millions of bloggers will love), but the fact that they are considering push notifications at all is a good sign.
WordPress is also adding VideoPress to the iPhone app, which they briefly mentioned after highlighting their upcoming Nokia app last week.
(Official WordPress Blog) VideoPress is now supported in the WordPress for BlackBerry app, and is coming soon for iPhone and Android.
Note: Emphasis mine.
There is no word on when these new releases will hit the app store (which unfortunately can take weeks to get through Steve Job’s “app tribunal”), but these updates should help the iPhone app as powerful as its Blackberry and Android brethren.

One complaint, and it’s fairly major, actually:
You added your own emphasis and based most of your article around that basis, whereas, those who look to the end of your emphasised sentence will notice that Android is also getting these updates, so they are in fact merely evening the board of their apps. Nothing truly surprising there, is there?
@Mehall: Thanks for stopping by.
Dan Roundhill (who created wpToGo and is also working on the Android WordPress App) already informed the world that VideoPress support would be coming to Android on the day the app was launched on Google’s mobile OS.
Blackberry has had it for a while, although WP barely mentioned anything about VideoPress support for the iPhone until last week.
While I’m glad WP is “evening the board with their apps,” truth be told it seems as if the iPhone is playing catch up to both Blackberry and Android as far as mobile apps go.
Aahh! I downloaded this app earlier and now I don’t feel quite so naked when I go on vacation. Anything WordPress can do to put in me in better touch with my site while away from a computer the better.
This app will definately make my life a little easier as I can keep up with my blogs on the go.
Wow, I wasn’t aware of such an app.
It’s great to be able to monitor my sites when I am out.

I’ve been looking for this post a weeks ago because of the facts information are in here and also it really helps me when it comes to my research it makes my work fast and easy. It also added to my vocabulary some of the words and opinions by other viewers which I really treasured and keep in mind what they have commented.
