I’ve known some writers and bloggers who struggle when asked this question. Terms like “freelance writer”, “online copywriter”, “content writer”, “pro blogger”, and “content creator” have been thrown around, but whichever term you prefer to use to describe your online job, you can’t get away from one thing: the influence of Google on what you do.
Of course, we all know – and accept to a certain degree – that Google is not everything. It is not the end all, be all of the online world; still, we scramble around like headless chickens when Google (or Matt Cutts) makes an announcement related to algorithm changes, penalties, and so on.
While some may overreact to these announcements and changes, there is value in listening – and there is also value in thinking for yourself and not pandering to every whim and fancy of the Big G.
Then again, Google has been extending its influence to the real world, so it’s not really such a far fetched idea when someone says that Google is out to dominate the world, is it?
Some guys from Business Management Degrees have taken a closer look at what Google has been doing – and where it is headed – and it seems that they have “discovered” Google’s Roadmap to World Domination. Whether you agree with the premise or not, it is an interesting infographic at the very least. You might even discover an area or two where you didn’t know Google is making headway.
I leave you with this:
