Where Do You Work Best?

Bloggers are generally work-at-home (or coffee shop, or wherever) people. It does not mean that we can’t work a desk job if we have to, and I am risking making the mistake of over generalizing here, but I do think that many people who make a living out of blogging have a proclivity for finding the most comfortable nook to work from.

where do you work best

I’m the type who “needs” a comfortable corner on the sofa (Sheldon’s spot comes to mind), with lots of throw pillows to be adjusted depending on my position. Today, however, I tried working at the table because I cannot deny that sitting on a real chair and having the laptop on a table does help with focus.

It worked. For a while.

Then my butt started going numb and my back started hurting.

Back to my good old sofa corner.

This brings me to my question for all of you bloggers out there: Where do you work best?

Assuming you mainly work at home, which spot do you prefer?

  • Comfortable sofa
  • A dedicated office complete with desk and all
  • The bed
  • Wherever there’s free space

Sometimes, though, one does have to go out in order to avoid that wall of freelance writer burnout. So, if you’re the type who likes to go out to work, where do you go?

  • Coffee shop
  • That quiet little neighborhood restaurant
  • A co-working space
  • The park

Why don’t you share your preferences, stories, and experiences with us in the comments? I’m sure we can all get an idea or two to enhance our work-at-home life out of this.

It really depends on my mood. I have a desk where I usually sit. I really like it because I have everything nearby such a smy blogging calendar, blogging notebook, pens etc. However sometimes in the mornings when I am tired and my dog is sleeping, this is not when I do my best work. Sometimes I also sit on the couch, but the TV is usually on and well thats not really effective either…. In my previous home I sometimes sat on the balcony which was just fantastic! We had a huge sofa so I bought all my stuff outside. It was so refreshing :)

I would love a balcony with a nice view. I’d set up a desk there and work. My balcony right now is too tiny, so filled it up with plants (that keep dying on me) instead.; )

I have a desk but prefer to work at my dining room table. I have an ergonomic desk chair that I roll up and a rolling file cabinet with supplies, etc. that I can store in my closet. Lots of sunshine, fresh air and easy access to the coffee pot.
