Description
Art in America magazine seeks an experienced editor with a strong background in art history and art criticism. This is a part-time (3 days a week) freelance position. Title is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
• Edit magazine’s feature manuscripts, reviews and front-of-book stories, working directly with writers
• Back-read and write for the magazine’s website
• Copy-edit and proof content from start to finish of monthly cycle
• Follow developments in contemporary art, generate topics for coverage and suggest new writers.
Qualifications:
• B.A. required, M.A. preferred, in art history or related field
• Must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to multi-task
• Minimum of 5 years prior editorial experience, preferably in publishing
• High-energy, outgoing individual who takes initiative and follows through
• Excellent written and verbal skills, and willingness to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a small staff
