Nonprofit society seeks skilled freelance copyeditors for family histories and genealogies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include correcting grammar and spelling; enforcing stylistic consistency; cross-checking genealogical data; and styling numerous reference notes (usually in the thousands). This work is extremely detail-oriented. Copyeditors must be familiar with The Chicago Manual of Style and skilled with Microsoft Word (including Words change-tracking function).
Required Experience:
Copyediting of book-length manuscripts, ideally for academic or college publishers. Proficiency with reference note style.
Salary/Hours:
Pay is hourly, commensurate with experience and based on a specific project's budget.
