Freelance copy editors needed for hard-science journal articles
Duties and Responsibilities:
A leading publishing-services company is looking for freelance copy editors to copyedit science journal articles in various hard-science fields, such as physics, optics and photonics, aeronautics and astronautics, geology and seismology, and engineering. Copy editors must implement journal-provided style guidelines as well as perform standard copyediting functions relating to grammar, syntax, punctuation, etc.
Prior experience copyediting highly technical science journal articles required; a background in one or more of the hard sciences is helpful. (Experience or background in a medical or life science field is less relevant.) Copy editors should be flexible in software usage--many of the manuscripts need to be copyedited in Word using track changes but some may need to be copyedited on PDFs using the Acrobat text edit functions.
Freelancers work remotely and need to be able to commit to at least 8 to 10 hours of work per week. Payment ranges from $5 to $7 per published journal page.
