Description
The Bronx Museum of the Arts—the sole contemporary arts museum in the Bronx—seeks a dynamic, results-oriented Grants Writer to write persuasive and articulate proposals and interim and final reports to corporations, foundations, and government sources. The Grants Writer will report directly to the Director of Development and is expected to work 3 days/week at the Bronx Museum. The candidate must be a creative and strategic thinker with a proven track record of successful fundraising.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and identify funding opportunities from private foundations, corporations and federal, state and city sources
Write and submit complete grant proposals and reports on a timely basis to private foundations, corporations and federal, state and city sources
Work with program staff and finance office to collect accurate, complete and up-to-date information on the organizations programs
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelors degree in the arts, English or related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of direct grants writing experience
Proven track record of funded proposals
Strong written communications skills, ability to write clearly and concisely as well as edit copy for clarity and grammatical accuracy
Ability to craft proposals to meet Museum funding needs, and to adhere to funders guidelines
Accurately complete forms and reports
Attention to detail
Excellent presentation skills
Ability to work under pressure and adhere to multiple deadlines simultaneously
Budgeting experience, including preparing income and expense reports and understanding of income statements, balance sheets and financial audits
