Description
Advocate Media, publishers of five monthly Dallas neighborhood magazines, is seeking a proofreader/fact checker to work about three days/24 hours a month in our Lakewood office. This is a freelance/contract job; pay will be $300 a month.
Job duties and requirements:
• Review copy for five monthly magazines, make recommended changes using AP and Advocate Media style guides to produce error-free publications.
• Serve as a fact checker for all materials, including phone numbers, web links, names.
• Have a strong understanding of and familiarity with AP Style Guide.
• Work in a team environment, interacting with publisher, reporters, photographers and others.
• Experience working as an editor or proofreader in a professional environment using the AP Style Guide. You also should know how to use inCopy.
• Additional writing opportunities available for the right person.
Big pluses:
• You are familiar with the Advocate magazines.
• You live in or are familiar with the Dallas neighborhoods we cover, and the Lake Highlands neighborhood in particular.
• You have writing experience.
