We are currently seeking an experienced professional individual to assist in all aspects of fundraising, in particular grants research and writing.
Responsibilities may include brainstorming and planning fundraising events, requesting donations from vendors and donors, speaking/meeting with potential donors, attending events, creating and giving presentations, researching grant opportunities, writing letters of inquiry, crafting grant proposals, and collecting supporting documentation for proposals.
Requirements include a strong interest in agricultural, food, health and environmental issues and commitment to social change; creativity; ability to craft, execute and monitor plans and events, excellent interpersonal, writing, organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work on short timelines; at least two years experience in fundraising and grant writing a must. Prior experience working on environmental issues required. Understanding of food, farming and fisheries a big plus.
Contractor need not work from our office - telecommuting is encouraged - but we'd particularly like to work with someone in or near New Orleans, so we can be in touch in person as needed for example for local events, as well as by phone and e-mail.
Compensation based on experience. This contract position is likely to become a long-term arrangement.
