One of DC's most respected and popular real estate blogs (3,000+ unique readers per day) is looking for 2 part-time writers/reports. We are a very type A group and want people who are driven, professional, have a good sense of humor & can utilize that in their writing, and can play well with others.
The blog is primarily about real estate development in DC and surrounding areas but also includes pieces on: architecture, retail and neighbor development. YOU MUST FIND THIS INTERESTING. If you've never bought a house, never want to buy a house and couldn't care less what goes on in neighborhoods, this job is not for you.
Other qualities you MUST have:
Experience as a writer/reporter, preferably on a daily paper or blog
The ability to write clearly, thoughtfully and keep it interesting
The ability to research and report
The ability to break stories
Knowledge of DC!!!
Things we DO NOT want:
Someone who needs constant guidance
High maintenance/drama
Someone who lives far away--must be able to attend the occasional meeting, hearing, development site, etc
This is a part-time, IN HOUSE position of at least 12 hours a week so you can gain the knowledge you need to write about this business.
The pay is per story--$75. Average story length is 400-500 words. At a minium we want 3 stories per week.
