Description
The Marin Independent Journal Website and Newspaper is seeking an editorial assistant to work on the sports desk one or two nights per week, 5 hours per shift ($10/hour). The position requires familiarity with the type of information presented in a daily sports section. SPORTS WRITING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. The assistant will take phone calls and process faxed or e-mailed game reports and other information for the daily section. The assistant is the primary writer and information gatherer for the IJ's local roundup presentation. The assistant will work closely with the sports editor, sports copy editors and staff writers to produce a well organized, accurate, sports timely section. There will be opportunities to cover games and write feature stories. Shifts run from 6:00 pm to approximately 11:15 pm. Specific evenings are negotiable. Must have valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance and acceptable DMV record. We require pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check for all positions.
