Job Board >> Tech/Business Reporter
|Date Posted||01, Thursday 2012|
|Listing Type||Hourly Rate|
We expect our writers to both break news and write smart analysis. We work in a fast-paced news environment, and writers must file clean, accurate copy on deadline. Writers also must be able to generate their own story ideas, complete assignments from editors, be active in social media, and embrace multimedia reporting (taking photos is a must, shooting video is a plus).
The best candidates will have a natural ability to frame stories. They will be able to explain why whatever startup they're writing about is important and different from other startups, particularly those in the same sector. And they will be able to get beyond whatever spin the startup is offering to tell a more nuanced and thoughtful story about the company.
Two to five years of relevant online or print reporting experience is required. The ideal candidate is both curious and skeptical, already has sources in the startup and venture capital worlds, can write attention-grabbing headlines, and is trained in the values of traditional journalism.
This position is based out of our San Francisco office.
