Our client is looking for a talented end-user technical writer with strong InDesign experience as well as FrameMaker experience to join a group of 5 technical writers writing end user consumer electronics documentation.
You will work on several projects including user guides, installation guides, quick start guides, and manuals 30-60 pages long for a consumer audience.
-You will need at least 2 years of in depth InDesign experience. You need to know the layout capabilities of InDesign and have written for a non-technical end-user retail audience. Knowledge of FrameMaker is also required.
-You must be communicative, proactive, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-MapCap Flare or RoboHelp knowledge is a plus.
-Creates, develops, plans, writes, and edits operational, instructional, and maintenance documents for paper, multimedia, or web-based publication.
-Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
-Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users.
-May document engineering processes and specifications.
-Produces products that conforms to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
- Excellent English language writing skill
- Experience creating end-user documentation for consumer electronics or similar products
- Excellent attention to detail
- Technical capability with InDesign 5, FrameMaker, overall Adobe CS5.
-5+ years creating end-user documentation: owner's guides, setup guides, instructions, etc.
-Expert in Adobe Creative Suite 5, specifically InDesign.
-Expertise in Adobe FrameMaker.
-Expertise in RoboHelp and/or MadCap Flare is a plus
-Experience with print production processes and workflows
-Experience with digital communication methods (web, on-screen display, mobile devices)
-Ability to make minor modifications to graphic design files and illustrations desired
BA/MA preferred, in English, Technical Communications, related field or equivalent experience
