We’re seeking a skilled SEO Content Writer with cannabis industry experience to join our remote team. You’ll be creating high-converting, search-optimized content for cannabis dispensaries across the country. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of SEO content writing experience in a fast-paced agency environment and understands both the technical aspects of SEO content and the unique compliance requirements of cannabis marketing.
Responsibilities:
- Create compelling, SEO-optimized content for cannabis dispensaries including web pages, blog posts, product descriptions, and local landing pages
- Execute content strategies developed by our SEO Manager team, focusing on local SEO content that drives foot traffic and online conversions
- Research and incorporate target keywords naturally while maintaining readability and user engagement
- Develop location-specific content that enhances local search visibility and speaks to regional cannabis markets
- Write metadata, title tags, and header tags that align with our technical SEO requirements
- Collaborate with our SEO, technical, and UX teams to ensure content supports overall campaign objectives
- Adapt writing style and tone to match individual dispensary brand voices while staying compliant with cannabis advertising regulations
- Create content templates and standardized approaches for efficient scaling across 50+ local SEO campaigns
- Leverage AI tools for content research, optimization, and efficiency while maintaining quality and originality
- Stay current on cannabis industry trends, regulations, and consumer behavior to inform content strategy
- Write schema markup content and structured data descriptions when needed
- Optimize existing content based on performance data and SEO recommendations
- Ensure all content meets legal compliance requirements for cannabis businesses across different states
- Support link building efforts by creating linkable assets and outreach content
- Collaborate with Partner Success team to understand client needs and content performance
Qualifications - Minimum 3-5 years of SEO content writing experience, preferably in agency environment
- Strong understanding of on-page SEO principles and content optimization techniques
- Experience writing for cannabis, CBD, or highly regulated industries is strongly preferred
- Proven track record of creating content that improves search rankings and drives conversions
- Proficiency in keyword research tools (SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.) and content optimization
- Understanding of local SEO content strategies and location-based optimization
- Experience with WordPress, basic HTML, and content management systems
- Knowledge of Google Analytics and Search Console for content performance analysis
- Excellent research skills and ability to quickly understand complex topics
- Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple campaigns simultaneously
- Understanding of cannabis industry regulations and compliant marketing practices
- Familiarity with schema markup and structured data implementation
- Experience with content optimization for Core Web Vitals and user experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred
