Things Wikipedia Can’t Tell Us About Makeup
In day-to-day life, we come across different makeup products that are launched in the market and often wish to try them. We buy different Cosmetic items, launched by different Cosmetic brands, and hence wish to try them. Also when we are out of our makeup products, we try out different makeup hacks that help us in our problems. And for all these things we go to the internet, but there are a few things that Google or Wikipedia can never tell us about makeup and I am going to tell you about them in this article.
Makeup and Wikipedia
Wikipedia is something that helps us with almost everything and is our go-to place every time we need help with something.
But what does that same Wikipedia say about makeup?
You know what, nothing! It has some detailed information about Cosmetics, which includes a few paragraphs about makeup, but nothing in detail.
And you know why?
Makeup is an art that has been developed, changed, and improved with time. It’s an art that comes from within.
Yes, Wikipedia tells us about every product that we use, for example, it has plenty of information about foundations, concealers, eyeshadows, highlighters, etc, etc, etc! However, it doesn’t matter because when it comes to makeup you need practical knowledge more than theoretical ones.
Ok, I know this is getting boring so let me cut to the chase, today in this article I am going to tell you the top 5 things that Wikipedia can never tell you about makeup.
- Skin tone and product selection
While we are applying or trying out any makeup product, the first and the most important thing we take into consideration is our skin tone.
Having a makeup product that complements our skin tone is like a blessing, and no Wikipedia or blog can do that for us, we learn this thing from our experiences. Like I’ll tell you mine when I got the first foundation I bought a shade that completely complimented the shade of my face, and now you know where I messed up, yes, you are thinking right, my neck looked completely different! And that experience taught me that I should buy a foundation that compliments my neck and not my face. The same is with lipstick and eyeshadow shades as well, some shades look fabulous with the fair skin tone but don’t go on with dark ones, and in some cases, the situation is vice-versa.
And hence it proves that Wikipedia can never tell us which shade, or which color suits our skin tone, it is learned by our own experience.
- Outfit, accessories, and combinations
Yes, we do love to try out new makeup styles and try to find the perfect shade that suits your skin tone, but it is also essential data makeup goes with their outfits also. The makeup isn’t the foundation, concealer, lipsticks and all the eye makeup it also includes appropriate hairstyles and how we accessorize, and perfect accessories and perfect hairstyle with correct makeup makes a perfect look. Google, Wikipedia these things can never tell us which kind of makeup is perfect for us according to our outfit or accessories or our hairstyles; this is something we have to figure out on our own.
Yes, just like you guys I have also made mistakes, I have also applied a lipstick shade that didn’t compliment my outfit and also have tried a hairstyle that didn’t exactly go with my look, and just like you guys that when I knew that I screwed up, I made a mistake and got a lesson from that bad experience.
- Suggest proper products
As I said at the beginning of this article, numerous products are introduced in the market and our day-to-day lives, and we often feel like trying them out. Now Google or Wikipedia can never help us select which product will actually go with our skin and I am not talking about skin tone or any other thing I am just talking about a perfect product that won’t have any harsh reactions on our skin.
We all have different skin types and hence there are few products that will suit your friend but might have any Harsh reactions on your skin. And to be honest, I have also tried numerous products that worked perfectly for my friends and reacted badly with my skin.
Wikipedia or Google or any other article can never tell you which product is actually suitable for your skin. This is something you are supposed to know on your own by conducting different kinds of patch tests or having some bad experiences or breakouts obviously.
- Tell us exact procedures
Every makeup product has a particular way of application, for example, foundations are often applied with the help of brushes or damp sponges, for applying eyeshadows we have almost 10 different types of brushes that are used and the same is with all other products. Some people prefer using a brush for applying foundation and using a damp sponge for blending concealer while some people use a damp sponge to do all the work, some use only three to four kinds of eyeshadow brushes and while some use a different set of almost 24 brushes to apply eyeshadow and this differs from person to person.
Wikipedia cannot tell us how to apply eyeshadow, foundation, concealers, bronzers, highlighters, and all other products that we are supposed to figure out on our own, which way is comfortable for us as a person. Yes, YouTube tutorials help us a lot with these things but if you try to understand these procedures just by reading Wikipedia or any other blog it would be impossible for you to get perfect results. This is something we are supposed to learn on our own.
- Makeup hacks
Have you ever been in a public place or somewhere where you needed a blush and you didn’t have it and you tried to use red lipstick as a substitute for it? Have you ever tried to use a lip liner as eyeliner and found out that it worked perfectly? Have you ever used tissue paper and your compact to turn a glossy lipstick into a matted one? Have you applied a Vaseline to your eyelashes before applying mascara so that it looks more thick and voluminous?
I am sure almost every one of us would have tried at least one of these hacks. Now let me ask you a question: did you read about this on Wikipedia? Obviously no, we might have seen our elders doing some of it, we might have tried this on our own or might have watched any of these in some YouTube tutorials or any other platform but definitely not in Wikipedia. And that my friend answers Wikipedia can never ever bring you or teach you about different makeup hacks, this is something we just come up with or randomly try.
